Braircliff Village area recs
Will be in Atlanta for work for about 4 weeks in Sept. Looking for the following recs .
Lunch or Dinner spots $10 - 30$ pp before tax and tip.
Perfer something specific to the Alanta area or the south in general (I'm from California)
Hole in the walls are great.
I've already decided on my fine dining choice Woodfire Grill it looks about 7 miles from my hotel.
I will have limited transportation. I can always taxi it if its a must visit.
1782 Cheshire Bridge Road, Atlanta, GA 30324
I'm not sure I have in my head where "Briarcliff Village" is- Sage Hill keeps popping into mind (Johnson and Briarcliff). If you're talking about that area, Floataway Cafe is hidden off down Zonolite. Pita Palace is by Whole Foods on Briarcliff for hyper-authentic Orthodox-prepared falafel and the like. The other side of Emory is in striking distance, with Community Q and Bhojanic on Clairmont. As is Morningside for Alon's or Rosebud.

1123 Zonolite Road Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30306-2015
If I am not mistaken, there is a shopping area called Briarcliff Village that is across from Northlake Mall near where Briafcliff splits off La Vista just inside the perimeter. If so, there is a great little mom & pop Italian place called Bambinelli's that is just a couple of blocks from there. A little farther down La Vista in the Oak Grove Village area is Mezza Grill which is excellent Lebanese food served small plate style.
Babinelli's is great NY Italian.
Blue Ribbon Grill is in the island between Northlake Festival, Northlake Mall and Briarcliff Village.
also, Northlake Thai Cuisine, an upscale Thai restaurant.
You might try Shorty's - http://shortys-pizza.com/ - two locations. Tucker is closer.
Old Hickory House BBQ is across the expressway on Northlake Parkway. Not my favorite BBQ place anymore, but it was in the 50's. An Atlanta tradition. http://www.oldhickoryhouse.com/
Actually I like the Community Q food better but it is not as close. A special rich and creamy mac and cheese recipe is a favotite side there. Good pork or beef BBQ with a smoke ring. Mix the two sauces.
Matthews Cafeteria in Tucker is a popular meat and three staple for cops, business folks, and blue collars alike. Excellent fried chicken on the days it is served (daily menus). If well cooked veggies turns you off it may not be your place. But that's southern cookin'. I love their mashed potatoes. Good desserts too. Breakfast of scambled eggs/bacon/sausage/ plus biscuits and grits with melted butter spooned on, will get your fatty food fix for the day taken care of in the morning. Not open weekends. http://www.matthewscafeteria.com/ . Was on Food Channel Diners Drive-Ins and Dives http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVnoDN...
Taqueria Los Hermanos in Tucker is a good non-traditional Mexican Restaurant in Tucker. I find their website menu difficult to view. http://taquerialoshermanos.net/
None of these will put you much over $10 per meal. I'm not sure what "limited transportation" works out to in miles so I did not venture beyond about 3 miles. There are some good choices in Decatur.
Old Hickory House

Taqueria Los Hermanos

I want to thank you all so much. I am very exited, I am now armed with some great options. I leave for my trip/work in a week and a half. I am also looking forward to seeing the Atlanta Aquarium, growing up fishing I love aquariums...hope they still have the whale shark. I should make a ton of overtime so I may just rent a car and explore deeper.
