Raspberry picking opens today in Winchester

Today was opening day for raspberry picking in Winchester at the Wright Locke Farm (www.wlfarm.org). I got a pound in about 20 minutes - they're loaded and ripe.
Picking every day except Monday, see web site for times. $5/pint or $8/lb.

I'm surprised that they are just now picking this late in the season. My raspberry bushes fruited weeks ago, and are now well past.

Different varieties fruit at different times. The ones in my garden were gone by the end of June, too.

Maybe these are the September berries, coming in early like everything else this year? Our CSA had raspberries last week, too.
