Date night downtown tonight- where to?

Date night tonight with my man. Drawing a blank for restaurant ideas. Patio would be nice. Keep hearing people mention "South of Temperance".. is it worth the buzz? What's it all about?

Other ideas my fellow hounders ?

Agree with just about all the recs so far. Another good one is Boulevard Cafe, lovely patio, great food. If the clouds gather and you decide to opt for an indoor option, we just had a lovely date night at Malena, sitting at the bar. Great food, great wine, fun evening.

They do have a very nice patio and their seafood dishes are fairly good too. A pitcher of Sangria would be a good start to the evening.

South of Temperance is not a great place for a date. It's sceney, very busy. More for people watching (if you like looking at suits). The food is very solid for what its worth, or at least the few dishes I've tried (the ceviche was a standout).

The last two place's my girlfriend and I went to were great. Sidecar and Beer Bistro, both have nice patios.

I would definitely second Harbord Room. It's currently my go to place. They don't take reservations for the Patio if I remember correctly. The last time I was there I had a lobster ceviche that was light and delicious. I almost always get the burger there. It's reasonably priced and friendly staff and a great atmosphere. You guys can skip dessert and head over to Dessert Trends for dessert after, they have better variety.

I was actually just at Harbord Room this past weekend and was able to make a reservation on the patio. But I did call like 30 min before I was about to show up at the resturant and they said if I came now they would reserve for me.

Second the patio at Origin. And will add the back patio at Sidecar. Two totally different experiences, both very nice.
