20 people, wants lobster, Chinese style

Wondering if there're any good "deals" going on for lobsters in Chinese restaurants around town. I have a crowd of 20 to entertain next Friday. Thanks so much.

  1. Try Peach Farm in Chinatown. I think when I went last week it was $14.95 for a lobster.

    1. victoria's in allston has a pretty good price for twin lobster, plus it's authentic southern cantonese food.

Have you been there recently? Victoria's usually gets quite trashed on this site. I went many yrs ago, and liked it.

i have not been recently...not for the past 3 years but my family and i have gone there a few times (we are cantonese). it's among the other places we frequent (joyful garden, yitinghao or the best little restaurant and jumbo for dinnertime).

      2. Great Taste had Twin Lobsters for $17.95 last weekend. If you are going to show up with a lot of people I would call ahead.

Out of town family, who love lobster cantonese style, unanimously voted the lobster cantonese at New Jumbo Seafood to be the hands down winner over Peach Farm.

New Jumbo is also considerably cheaper, $22.95 (vs. 24.95 at PF) and does not charge extra for the cantonese style preparation (PF charges $5 more).

A very nice touch is that in addition to validating parking to get a discount at the garage (price goes from $10 to $6) - New Jumbo gives you $3 in cash to "split the parking."

New Jumbo Seafood is my go to place in Chinatown for lobsters - you will love it!

Which garage? We love Jumbo, but the hubby hates the parking. This could mean there is more Spicy Salt lobster in my future :)

I called New Jumbo and they validate parking at 40 Beach St. They said $3 for 3 hours after 6pm.

I have never had Spicy/Salt Lobster...I'll try it. So in addition to cantonese, ginger scallion, and spicy/salt - are their any other general lobster preparations?

          2. My suggestions would be either the Peach Farm or East Ocean City. I had good experience with lobster and other seafood at both. At East Ocean I would also suggest the Salt & Pepper King Crab. It's not cheap but it sure is delicious and would go well with a few lobsters.

              to be solomonic:

i think all 3 places, East Ocean, Peach Farm, and New Jumbo are good. Call to find out which has the best deal as East Ocean has a nightly special. The other two may have specials, too.

I have never tried great taste.

            2. depends on how good your English is, Peach Farm is decent. also if you're downtown or not... I've had good luck with Mandarin Cuisine in Needham, just call ahead.

$14.95 for one lobster is NOT a 'good deal'. If in Chinatown, look for restaurants with 'lobster special' signs. Bangkok Basil in Stoughton has triple lobsters any style for $24.95.
