So with all that, you couldn't fix what you broke several years ago?q

Unread posts are still limited to the last 48 items--rendering the tool pretty useless. It used to work properly, and there have been promises to fix it--but it's still broken!

  1. Ummm - I quit counting at 200.

At the top and bottom of the page there is a line in tiny print that says " Viewing 1–50 Older »".
Clicking on "Older »" takes you to the next page of unread posts.

Interesting. I see that when I look at the boards in general, but not when using the Unread Posts feature. I do recall that when this first went broken several years ago, the first time I looked at the unread posts for any board, I could scroll back like you mention--then subsequent trips was limited to somewhere around 48. That's fine for low volume boards, but for boards like Manhattan or home cooking, it means you have to check in several times a day, or the Unread Posts feature is useless.

If I'm doing something wrong in using the Unread Posts, I'd love to know what it is. I find this issue really annoying, and if there's a way around it, I'd be happy to use it.

From your "My Chow" page, when you click on the link next to "My Posts" you don't get this?

The scrolling link is to the far left of the page not the right.

Ther are problems with the feature, but you should be getting more than 48 lines and one page.

OK, I see what you mean when you change to a specific board. I never noticed that before since when I want to see new threads I just go directly to Home Cooking or General etc.

The advantage of using the Unread Posts is that old threads that are re-visited pop up to the top. It's something I got used to on the old/old Chowhound, and I really miss the functionality on the "new and improved" version. I've raised the issue several times, and got the response that it was being worked on. Oh well!
