Walper Hotel, Kitchener

We are planning a dinner party for approx. 20 and considering the Walper. Has anyone had a wedding or event there and would you recommend it for a sit down dinner?

What kind of venue are you looking for? The Walper has never really been known for it's food or ambiance. At least not in the past 10 years.

We are celebrating our 50th and our wedding reception was at the Walper and that is the reason we would like to go back there. Communication with them has been great but we are not in K-W anymore and unable to check out personally. Thanks.

It was still a classy joint when my uncle had his wedding reception there in the mid 1970s. Since then, it's turned into a Best Western franchise, so I wouldn't get your hopes up about the food.

Correction. It's a privately owned hotel now. I spent a night there about 10 years ago and I think it was affiliated with Best Western back then. I had breakfast there --- can't remember anything about the food. I was more upset by the high noise level in the room I had there.

Apparently it was nice 50 years ago when my folks had their reception there. Can't comment about it more recently.
