Looking to buy razor clams, when and where can I ge tthem?

I live in the San Gabriel Valley and haven't seen any at my local 99 Ranch and the Arcadia Supermarket.

Does anybody know if any of the other Asian markets in the area carry them now?

So to bump an old thread with an update if you are near a 99 Ranch market then check out the seafood section, I found a few batches of live razor clams for $6.99 per pound today. Hard to find a perfect bundle but I was decently happy with what I got.

I checked out both Thuan Phat and Super Store and both carry the same brand of frozen razor clams but they are fat and short.

I was hoping to find something much longer and tubular (which I realize now are the Atlantic ones). Thanks for the tips anyway, I suppose I'll wait a bit for them to come around.

Thun Phat Supermarket on Rosemead Blvd. in South El Monte has them.

I haven't checked for them at the other Asian markets, but it's worth checking at Hawaii, Hong Kong and 168.

Seafood Paradise in Rosemead sometimes have them in stock fresh/live. I bought last year and did the garlic stir fry. Was awesome.

when I click on the website, it goes to a Westminster location but I can see by other sites that there is a Rosemead location.
                Thanks.

I love razors too. Are you looking for the Pacific or Atlantic species? See below. Most likely if you do come across them, they will be the pacific species. I have order them from Seattle, WA. I just wanted to give you a heads up that razor clams are different species depending on what coast you are from. I would give Fish King a call in Glendale to see if they carry them. They will be frozen.

Ensis directus, Atlantic jackknife clam or razor clam
                Siliqua patula, Pacific razor clam

Is there a noticeable difference in taste?

I just want them in some form because I have good memories of eating them in Hong Kong when I visited family.

I have not tasted eastern razors. If you cannot find razors locally, here is a site in Washington state where you can have them shipped.

I've never seen them at my 99 Ranches in Irvine. Perhaps the SGV 99's are better stocked on live seafood than the Irvine stores.

Have you tried calling Quality Seafood in Redondo Beach? Can't say I've seen it there ether, but they carry a very broad range of live shellfish. Wouldn't surprise me if they have it.
