Investigate Teatro del Sale, posted on this board numerous times. its not a spot on the Arno, but you might find it a good plase you will remember for a long time. Lunch is bery reasonable and delicious.

Why don't you try the Osteria de Benci for good Tuscan food on the via de Neri which is close to Santa Croce.
Not many good restaurants to go to on the Arno; La Posta on the Via Pelliceria is also very good and very close to piazza della Republica and the Ponte Vecchio....2 ideas for typically Tuscan food in the middle of Florence (you can sit outside at both)...hope it helps

my best choice for a meal with arno view is Open Bar Golden View, you are sitting just on the river side, looking to Ponte Vecchio!
in via de Bardi 54 very near Ponte Vecchio, they have also jazz session with live concert from 21.00. If you reserve is best so you can take a seat with Ponte Vecchio overview or in the jazz room, tel 055 – 214502.

another very nice view on the city is the Roof Bar on the top of La Rinascente Mall, in piazza della Repubblica, take an easy lunch or aperitivo looking the Duomo cupola....
        hope this helps

Open Bar Golden View gets my kudos for view, scene & setting; we had dinner there and if I had one word to describe it, it would be "sexy". Food was good, not great--but a great trade-off for the view.

Well I guess it takes all sorts.......how about Enoteca Fuori Porta on the way up to San Miniato/Piazzale Michaelangelo - then you can walk your lunch off to get to the best view of Florence The food is excellent, genuine, great atmosphere and very reasonable. Fantastic wine list and might suit your requirements....(Open Bar Golden View is very touristy and it can be a little dodgy??)

Just back from Italy less than a week ago with our last two days in Florence. I wouldnt call Open Bar Golden View touristy and we had a fantastic dinner experience there as we were looking for fresh fish and seafood. Food, service and ambiance were all excellent.

If you don't mind going slightly out of town, head up to Cave di Maiano on the way to Fiesole (ten minutes from town). Great food, beautiful outdoor dining, terrific host (Francesco)
