I've heard good things about Pistachio Grill, a Persian place at 8560 Wilshire. There's also Cobra Lily, which is certainly better than Kate Mantelini, although a little farther east. Um, isn't Maurya (Indian cuisine) right -- and I mean, RIGHT -- there? (151 S. Doheny, just south of Wilshire). I guess one could describe it as a sort of artsy take on Indian food, in the way that Bombay Cafe on the westside might be considered.
