Dinner for ~60 - Suggestions?
My fiancee and I are planning a fairly non-traditional wedding. We aren't into the idea of the whole spectacle where she walks down the aisle, etc, so we decided that we are just going to do a civil service at city hall.
However, we want to have a dinner to celebrate afterward with a larger group friends and family. Roughly 60 people. Any restaurant suggestions? Will a restaurant even be able to accommodate a group of 60 or will we have to rent out a separate hall/hire caterers?
We were hoping to do this for $8-10k. Manhattan only.
Any/all suggestions are welcome.
Thanks!

Absolutely not. There are plenty of places that do it - you'll simply be put in the private room with some type of fixed menu. Assuming you don't want dancing, you'll just be in a private room. The lists of places go on and on.
We are hosting 20 and our budget is half of yours.
We are having our wedding lunch at Blue Hill. We chose them because the menu is seasonal and designed just for us based on our likes/dislikes. I can't say enough about how gracious they have been. (We are also doing a weekday lunch as they are usually closed so we get the whole place to ourselves).
Other places we looked at were: City Bakery, Convivio, Park Avenue (summer, winter, fall, spring), Keste, and Landmarc. I have also heard Shorty's is very good for a private event. You just have to see what works with your budget. From memory, I think City Bakery and Keste could easily work for you (I was really intrigued by the whimsy of City Bakery).
