Recommended places in LA

Will be visiting my son next week from NY. Any suggestions of good, new restaurants near Eagle Rock. The only food that we do not eat in Indian. He wanted to try Animal, The Edison and a sausage/bratworst place, that I can't remember the name of. Also, we always go to the Empress Pavillion for dim sum. Are there better places around. We enjoy Empress, but maybe a change would be nice. Thanks for you feedback.

Edison is housed in a neat edifice. Nice for drinks. They have absinthe!

Sausage place: Are you referring to Wurstkuche? Good bratwurst, bockwurst, kielbasa and rattlesnake sausages.

Dim sum: Try Sea Harbour or Elite

Dim sum means going farther east to either Sea Harbour or Elite. You can read some comments about dim sum here http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/7117... and there is a link to another thread in this discussion (right near the start) that you should look at too.

You might post to the LA board.
Wurstkuche is the name of the sausage place.
