WTF - Churros in Toronto

  • 0

As the title suggests, I'm looking for a place that makes fresh warm Churros. Anyone have a spot? (preference on West End locations!)

  1. You should have gone to the T&T night market on Cherry. There was a stall making them.

    1. You can get churros on the weekends at the Harbourfront where all the tents are.

I tried the churros at Harbourfront and was kind of disappointed. I got the churro with chocolate and the chocolate sauce was literally the kind one would buy to squirt on top of a sundae :( The churro itself was just ok.

Yeah, I refrained from giving an opinion on them, but I find them expensive and lacking in crunch. More chewy than anything else.

      2. Saw someone in Kensington Market making them yesterday. Didn't see any chocolate in passing though. I believe it was across the street from Jumbo Empanadas.

Pancho Bakery is it. They have the machine set up on the street on Pedestrian Sundays.

They're not very good either. Kind of chewy/hard.

There was chocolate, strawberry and caramel whenI went to the last Pedestrian Sunday. Mine was freshly made from the machine so it wasn't chewy nor hard :D
Otherwise, they sell them on the counter in the shop during normal business hours - I suppose you should go early to make sure it's fresh. But the best time would be on the Pedestrian Sunday, and you can watch them be made!

I had them at Torito Tapas Bar on Augusta. I looked at their menu online and don't see them, but I'd suggest calling and asking if they can make them for you. They were served with dulce de leche for dipping.

Apparently, El Trompo (also on Augusta) does churros on weekends only.

Would have to agree with XOCAVA. Great spicing, crispiness on the outside, and a delicious cocoa dipping sauce.

            2. El Jacal has them weekends. I think it's the lady from Harbourfront.
