Restaurant Recommendation for Downtown Oakland/Jack London Square area

I'm looking for a recommendation for a restaurant, preferably under $30 a person without drinks, tip, and tax, in that area that is not authentic Asian cuisine, of any genre (Chinese, Cambodian, Thai, etc). It's not an area I've gone for food much in the last few years. Somewhere that's open on a Sunday is a big plus.

No other firm restrictions; I just want to leave thinking "wow, that was a really interesting and tasty meal".

Thanks.

(Another way of thinking of the location: within 10 blocks of the 12th or 19th street BART stations would be nice)

Thanks a lot; this is a really interesting list so far.

Tamarindo is closest and really tasty Mexican food. They just expanded the seating area so getting table is easier. Go the other way down eighth street about 4 blocks to Phnom Penh for very good Cambodian.

You might be able to get under $30 at Scott's Seafood Grill and Bar at Jack London Square.

I have never left Scott's thinking that the food was interesting. Flora, Mua, Pican, yes.

Encuentro (200 2nd Street, off Jack London Square).

+2 on Encuentro. You said "interesting and tasty", which exactly sums them up. Innovative and not pricey.

Though most of the restaurants down there are Asian, there's still a lot to choose from: B Restaurant, Bocanova, Flora, Hibiscus, Luka's Taproom, Mua, Pican, Tamarindo ...

didn't find the seafood that fresh at bocanova, flora is nice, luka's has $1 oysters all day monday, pican is interesting.

there's also chop bar, enuentro, cafe 15 for take out, miss pearl's jam house, everett & jones bbq (not recommended but it's an option) in jkl.
they may not all be open sundays.
