Is Akasaka Berkeley Closed for Good?

I live literally right behind the place and just noticed that its closed down but don't see any kind of sign about what happened or if they're coming back. Anyone know anything?

And if they're NOT coming back, anyone know what might replace it? My family has lived in the neighborhood for years and years and this building must have bad juju because I haven't seen ANYTHING last for very long in that location since IHOP went out of business. And because the building is apparently "protected" as a landmark building (crazy but true), it can't be torn down. That must make it hard to lease, since its got the dated IHOP chalet design. Fingers crossed that another decent place moves in OR someone can finally tear the place down and put something way nicer in its place.

The city's parcel conditions report for 2650 Telegraph says it's not a landmark. The space is for rent:

By now, you've probably seen the construction crew come and go, and it looks like it's going to be "Bacheeso".

That's the bacheeso that's down on Dwight and San Pablo, one expects?
Very popular, good prices, sub-standard food, interesting brunch?

That's the one, it's now open, I drove by yesterday and saw people inside. I've never been to the one on San Pablo, so don't know about the food.

Has the Dwight Way location finally cleaned up? I stopped returning there because tables and floors were deplorable. The entire place just felt scummy and dirty.
