Hi This is for dinner tonight. Would love to try something unique - cuisine / setting / ambience without doing upscale.

Thanks

          CulinAriane, hands-down winner.

Please give us a report on where you went!

Culinariane and Blu are great, but the poster said he did not want upscale and I think of those restaurants as upscale. Where did the poster go?

Funny, the thing I love about Blu is that the food is upscale, but the place isn't necessarily. I recall being there one night last winter after a couple of days of snow, and there was a guy at the table next to us in jeans and a Giants sweatshirt.

While I prefer to be a little more dressed than that, it's what I think is great about the restaurant--the food is upscale, but the vibe is casual!

Lol, Curlz, jeans and sweatshirts proliferate at Broadway Shows and Lincoln Center concerts, so they are no reflection of upscale or casual. These are the times we live in. (I preferred when folks dressed better to suit the venue, though)
