Carrot Cake for a birthday in San Francisco

I've been searching the boards and can't seem to find any recent threads on where to buy/order an outstanding carrot cake for my brother in law's birthday next Friday. I'm considering trying The Cakemaker. Any other suggestions for a truly memorable rendition of carrot cake would be much appreciated.

I haven't had one in some years, but Just Desserts' carrot cakes at least used to be exactly what a skilled baker would make at home, including the tasty cream cheese frosting. One of the best cakes I've ever had from a bakery.

That was always my favorite incarnation, too. I saw Just Desserts branded carrot cake at Whole Foods yesterday and nearly bought one.

Kara's Cupcakes makes a really good carrot cake cupcake, if you want to go in that direction. (Full disclosure: my daughter has been working there this summer, so I know way to much about their (irresistible) cupcakes!)
