What to order at wd-50 these days?
I'm headed to wd-50 next week with two other people.
I don't think I'm going to get the tasting menu but was wondering what dishes and desserts were recommended by people who have eaten there..
Anything but a salmon dish please!
thanks

The desserts are really inventive and very strong across the board. The soft chocolate ganache with peppermint ice cream, black cardamom cake, and toffee was a recent standout, but all of Alex Stupak's desserts are worth trying.
My favorite savory dish there is the aerated foie gras. The aeration technique gave the foie gras a lighter but creamier texture, which was pretty fascinating in combination with the pickled beets. The eggs Benedict is one of Wylie Dufresne's signature dishes, but it was a miss the last time I had it: the crust encapsulating the fried hollandaise was too thick and hard, and the poached egg yolks had an unpleasantly congealed texture and were a bit underseasoned.
In general, I think the desserts at wd~50 are better than the savory stuff.
