Restaurant Suggestion for Friday -- Oysters or Italian small plates

Visiting family from out of town and will picking up husband at South Station on Friday evening. He's looking for a spot for either a) raw oysters and a nice beer or b) Italian small plates (cheese, charcuterie, antipasti) and wine. Do you have any suggestions? We have a car and can drive to any surrounding areas like Cambridge if need be. thanks in advance.

go to Dante's in Cambridge, by the Sonesta. Oysters are 1.00 a piece from 4 PM on, lots of small plates, good food, outdoor patio, easy to get on 93 and they take reservations.

Les Zygomates is an easy 1.5 block walk from South Station if you're not already aware. We're doing the south end tonight and were considering Coppa as well. What about Estragon for tapas and wine?

you can drive to Scampo (just off 93, they validate parking at the Liberty hotel) for some great beef carpaccio, prosciutto, various mozzarella-centric dishes etc. or if you drive deep into Cambridge to Gran Gusto, you might luck out with some stracciatella cheese. or stop in at Drink for some chicken liver pate, buttermilk fried wings and cocktails.

We ate both at Neptune Oyster (North End) and at Coppa (South End) and loved both. Neither takes reservations. When we go back to Boston, we plan to visit both again.
