AMTRAK day trips, west from Detroit

Having ridden AMTRAK, Dearborn to Chicago a number of times, I've been intrigued by the towns along the route.

The thought came to mind that it might be a bit neat to plan a couple of day trips around restaurant destinations in the towns AMTRAK serves: jump on in Dearborn, jump off in _________.

So the question is, are there any noteworthy eats within walking distance of the stops along the AMTRAK route to Chicago?

There's Casey's and eve: the restaurant and Kosmos Deli and even Zingerman's Deli close enough to walk to from the Ann Arbor train station.

Several New Buffalo places have been mentioned on this board; here's one thread: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/699185; most places that are in town should be walkable from the train station. However, I don't think the first train of the day leaving Dearborn stops in NB. You'd have to make it a dinner trip, getting in to NB mid-afternoon, back to Dearborn at midnight.
Sounds like a fun idea, though.

You can take the train to New Buffalo. The Four Winds Casino has a shuttle that meets every train totake you to the Four Winds. They have a nice buffet and the Copper Rock restaurant is a god steakhouse. If you don't want to go the casino,Bentwood ,Casey's,The Stray Dog,Brewsters,El Rancho Grande,Redamaks are all restaurants in walking distance. In reality the shopping isn't much to take the trip for.You can take the train stay at the Harbor Grand Hotel and never need a car.

Also walkable from the train at New Buffalo is the Marina Grand Resort, home of Bentwood Tavern, where Chef Jenny Drilon is still the best chef in the area. Yummy! www.bentwoodtavern.com

The Bell's brewery "Eccentric Café" would be walkable from Kalamazoo's station. They sometimes have experimental brews before they go on sale to the public. Not really unsafe, but if I did it late at night and was drunk, I might consider a cab.

Also several other places in downtown Kazoo -- fancy steakhouse Webster's, Food Dance Cafe, some newer places around the E. Michigan/Portage corner.

Foods just okay at Bell's Brewery's Eccentric Cafe, IMHO, but I'd go for the beer alone! I also liked that funky bar right across the street from it called Old Dog Tavern. Not for food, for drinking and ambience.
