Di Fara on a Friday?

I'd like to take my 2 summer interns to Di Fara's this Friday. We can arrive at about noon or 12:30. What is the likelihood of a wait? Since time is a bit tight for me, what are your next best choices for a couple of young non-New Yorkers interested in experiencing truly great pizza? I'm thinking perhaps Motorino. I've never been to Lucalis and this may be outside my budget. Thanks to all for suggestions!

A wait is customary for Di Fara's, as is the whole experience. 1 and a half to 2 hours is usually the minimum time for the quickest Di Fara visit, and even that's short compared to his longer wait times.

However, if you want to give them a better and less taxing experience I recommend Lucali. It's a bit pricey but not all that bad. However, Lucali opens at 6 and doesn't offer any lunch hours.

Motorino, while good is not New York pizza. It's artisianal craft pizza that emulates the smaller Neapolitan pies of Italy. The pies are designed for one person, so you'd have to buy three amongst yourselves if you want a decently filling meal. Nonetheless, they are still very delicious pieces of Italian cooking but as stated, not New York style pizza.

If you could arrive at 11 you won't wait. You might wait a bit at noon, but I don't think that long. I'd try it.

Motorino will cost as much if not more than Lucali's. Great pizza though.

Cheaper alternatives: Grimaldi's, Lombardi's, Totonno's in Coney Island
