Dear fellow chowhounders,

I'm heading to Atlanta for a conference. Seeing as it's work, I have one meal to enjoy in the city on my own. I'm staying at the Marriott Marquis downtown. I won't have a car but am willing to take a taxi if it's under $10 each way.

Any suggestions?

Grateful,
Sarah

I would suggest perusing this board a bit - $10 will get you probably to the southern part of Midtown I'm guessing? Probably not more than 2 mi or so.
    Enjoy your trip!

If you'll give us a price range and types of food/atmosphere preferred or avoided, we'll be able to help you more.

Thanks. I am pretty much open. I'd love a whole-in-the-wall place because I tend to like those. But really I just want an excellent place that has food special to Atlanta (I live in San Francisco and New York so I get a diversity of cuisines). Topping out at $25 entrees.

I'd go with Holeman & Finch, else Abbatoir. You can sit at the bar at either place. Both Southern, ingredient focused, great stuff.
