Any good Cuban sandwich places in South Beach?

atlfoodfan Aug 3, 2010 01:53 PM

I'll be in Miami for one day and am wanting an authentic Cuban sandwich place for lunch. Was planning to go to Little Havana and check out Cafe Versailles but it's now looking like we won't have time. Am wondering whether there's anything comparable in South Beach. Thanks in advance.

I remember that someone mentioned Las Olas cafe in South Beach is the go-to spot for Cuban sandwiches.

But if you're closer around 20th street, go to Tropical Beach cafe.

And if you're in SoFi (South of Fifth), I think you're stuck with the Colombian chain Sandwich Qbano for the Cuban sandwiches (they do make it good - although it's a different version).

ok I may catch some grief for this one but give Puerto Sagua Restaurant a try. It is not South Beach style at all - in fact, it is a diner. How they afford rent in South Beach is simple - the place is packed, because it is one of the few low priced options.

I remember that both their skirt steak (Churrasco bistec) and their real-deal Cubanos were special. Also the ropa de viejo. But again - not a fancy place, just great authentic Cuban food, rustic style. A block or two off the beach at 700 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL‎ - (305) 673-1115‎
