50th birthday celebration- HELP

Hey all,

My mother is turning 50 and in an effort to plan her celebration, we have decided to set our sights on Manhattan.

We are looking for a bar and a restaurant (or if one place satisfies both) that are reasonably close to one another.

Specifics are flexible but for the bar, we do not want a total dive bar, though it certainly does not need to be fancy, with live music (preferably classic rock, etc). For the restaurant, something delicious yet relatively inexpensive would be perfect. She does not enjoy the same innovative creations I do, and would appreciate a well-priced menu of simple food cooked well. I was leaning towards Blue Hill but knew that can be pricey and limited as far as menu, so your suggestions are welcome.

I know its rather vague but we just decided this today and thought I'd look to the experts for some ideas!

You need to provide # of people and amount you want to pay per person and whether that includes drinks, tax and tip.

Also, if you provide the specific date you're thinking we can try to match you up with the live music you're looking for.
