My new favorite- Cafe Mio in Gardiner, first town south of New Paltz. They use a lot of local ingredients, have great specials and regular menu and are overall an excellent place for lunch --and breakfast. If headed up to Minnewaska, you can continue up rte. 44-55 and avoid a lot of the weekend traffic in New Paltz. In New Paltz, I like the Harvest Cafe, especially sitting outside with the wonderful view. Also, the Mudd Puddle, downstairs in the Water Street Market has a limited but very good lunch menu and again, its nice for sitting outside.

Karma Road is great. I'm not a vegetarian, but I thought their food was excellent. Harvest (upstairs in the Water Street Market) is also very good. If you want something quick, Mexicali Blue and The Bakery are great.
