best dog friendly resturants in Hillcrest/North Park/South Park?

  • 9

I just moved to town from Chicago and am in need of recommendations for good places to eat in my new neighborhood. Places that are farm to table and/or dog friendly are huge pluses. Thanks!

  1. Terra is dog friendly in Hillcrest. I know people bring their dogs into Hamilton's in South Park. Cafe Chloe always has a few dogs on the patio in Downtown.

IMO, Hamilton's is usually way too loud and crowded for dogs. I know people do bring them but I don't think they should (for the dog and other patrons sakes).

The Station Tavern in South Park has a nice outdoor patio area that's dog friendly.

I have to agree about Hamilton's - at least at night when the place is packed. My dog would completely freak out at the sheer number of people and dogs (though he'd probably figure out that this meant he had more people to suck up to). At the same time, the owners have no problem with people bringing their dogs right up to the bar.

    2. Parkhouse Eatery (University Heights), Farmhouse Cafe (University Heights), Ranchos (North Park) all allow dogs. Zia Pizza in Normal Heights is a casual pizza place with a few tables outside that allows dogs. You can also bring dogs to Pizzeria Bruno Napoletano (Uni Heights).

      1. get an outside table at GULF COAST GRILL and you can tie them to the outside at your table.

FYI Today's Groupon is for the Gulf Coast Grill. http://www.groupon.com/san-diego/
I haven't been but geekiefoodie mentioned elsewhere that the peach cobbler is delish.

        2. My experience is that pretty much anyplace that has outside seating will allow dogs (at least reasonably well-behaved dogs).

          1. El Take It Easy on 30th Street is both farm to table and dog friendly. You may want to look at the menu before you go, it's a bit on the adventurous side, at least for San Diego.
