Lunch in or near Katonah?

johndory Aug 2, 2010 05:20 PM

Any recommendations for a place to stop in Katonah for lunch? I'm flexible on cuisine type and price, but I'd like to find a place that uses top notch ingredients. Since this is a stop on a long drive, I'm looking for something relatively quick (say, 45 minutes or less). Somewhere south of Katonah off the Saw Mill Pkwy might also work. Thanks!

Any locals in that area know of an old style crossroads deli/sandwich joint, sort of off the beaten path but somewhere not too far from the Katonah/Goldens Bridge exits off Rt 684, that names all their sandwiches after movie characters? I had a Rocky Balboa (roast beef, melted Swiss and Russian dressing on garlic bread) there some years ago and still remember it well enough to crave a repeat visit. But I can't seem to find it. Hope it's still there. Any info would be welcome. Thanks!

Lange's Little Store in Chappaqua has great deli sandwiches, some of which have names but not all.

Blue Dolphin Ristorante in Katonah is a tiny restaurant housed in an old diner car on the main drag in Katonah. They serve excellent and unique homemade pastas, salads, and more. Great food and high quality ingredients, cute ambiance, lovely people.

In Katonah I would recommend Willy Nicks - casual American bistro type w/ good food. In Bedford Hills I really like Kicho which is Sushi. In Chappaqua there is Le Jardin Du Roi w/ consistently decent french bistro type food or Grappolo for Italian. In Pleasantville there is a great lunch counter spot called Jean Jacque which would be the quickest b/c no waitstaff service - but really good food. All are very easy access off Saw Mill.
