Fleet Landing Charleston SC

  • 6

I'm in Charleston SC this week and have come across a restaurant called Fleet Landing. Have any of you all tried it yet? Is it worth it, or should I fall back to my first idea of High Cotton?

  1. They are very different types of places. High Cotton is more refined, fancier. Fleet Landing is casual. The draw for Fleet Landing is the view; you're right on the water. It's not a bad place for drinks and lunch. It's the type of place where you can wear shorts and drink beer at an outdoor table. Prices aren't bad either if I recall. It really depends on the type of experience that you're looking for.

    1. Great view. Cool building. Good happy hour. Mediocre seafood. If you want less expensive seafood, go to Pearl's for casual (cheaper than Fleet Landing) or Amen Street for midscale (a little more expensive than Fleet). If you want a great view and the food is secondary, go to Fleet.

I agree. I usually tell people places with a view don't have to be good. Fleet's is great if you want to sit right on the harbor. High Cotton is my favorite downtown restaurant. If you want a view go to Fleet's. If you want what's local and fresh go to HC or FIG.

      2. My personal experience is that Fleet Landing has lousy food. I've tried it three times and all three were a bust.

Blue Herons.......I wish the food at FL was better too because the view is outstanding. A restaurant with a beautiful waterfront view does something for my heart. I usually let the view and atmosphere overcome subpar food but that's just me. I love the view more than the food I suppose. Maybe FL's food quality will improve soon and be comparable with the view.
