Going to a matinee at the Old Globe in a few weeks. Any recommendations for dinner afterward, outside the park, but in the surrounding area? Not sure what we'll be in the mood for or what you'd call it, but thinking American, Californian, steak, fish, bistro-ish, etc. 3 courses of well prepared food a perfectly grilled, roasted or braised protein of some sort accompanied by wonderful veggies, etc . Nothing too dressy, just want great food in a comfortable environment where we can at least hear can hear ourselves talk.
Open to all suggestions. Thanks!

Cucina Urbana. Loud, yes, but you can still have conversations. And you'll have a great meal. :)

I think Cucina Urbana actually runs a shuttle from the restaurant to the Old Globe too. Or they at least used to.

When we go the Globe, we always hit up the bar at Prado for drinks and app's and then walk over.
Afterwards, we usually hit up Nunu's for cocktails, where a lot of the cast like to hang too.

Beach and geeky thanks for the recs. I rarely plan ahead for dinner and since I am this time I'm hoping to try a restaurant I've never been to and as luck would have it I've been to both of those and that's about it for the area other than a taco joint or 2.
I don't know that area of town well. Can you think of any other options that might fit, if I widen the area a bit perhaps? Thanks

Have you been to Wine Vault? If not might be worth a look, you will need to check the calendar on there web site for menu.

            Might want to try:

            Bankers Hill Bar & Restaurant
            Hane Sushi
            Yakatori
            Barrio Star
            Mandarin House

            All convenient to Old Globe.

Thank you for the suggestions. All look great and worth adding to my list of must try and many should fit nicely for what we had in mind this time. Appreciate it.
