Man Vs. Food: Carb Pot

So, I am a long time Seattle resident who is now living in LA. We are coming to Seattle this week for a fairly long visit and I have been researching all the new places. But meanwhile I just caught the episode of Man Vs. Food at the Crab Pot on Pier 57. I don't think in over 20 years of living in Seattle I went there-or if I did, it would have been in my early days as a student "touristing" around.

Is it any good? I am lusting over great seafood and I like the idea of just crab in its purest form, but given the location I am wondering if it is good ar just a an over-hyped tourist place?

  1. Over hyped tourist place. Go to Crawfish King for something similar but better.

    1. Yes, it is an over-hyped tourist place (though good on TV, I'm sure). Go to Jack's Fish Spot, in the Pike Place Market, pick out a live crab, and have them cook and crack it for you. I do not know how you will arrange a dip of melted butter, but with a dairy feet away and Jack with a kitchen and all, surely this can be done. If you need more crackers and picks, there's a kitchen implement store another few yards into the building. Staff at Jack's may even have other suggestions - they've done this before...

      1. So I see I made a Freudian slip-supposed to be Crab Pot....

Thanks for the input on the place BTW-I was afraid that was the case. So now it will definitely be either eat at home or Crawfish King :)
