Old Style Diners?

kansel Jul 31, 2010 12:45 AM

Hi folks

Wondering how many good old style diners are still around. Bringing the family to NYC in a couple of months (all adults) and I know they will love a traditional diner.

Skylight is on my list as we ate there last year and thought the food was very good. Any others worth a visit?

Location not an issue as we like to travel for good food.

Ask this on the outer boroughs board - many more options.

Sorry for not being clear - I meant we will travel anywhere in Manhattan.

I guess Skylight is the only option then!

Metro Diner on Broadway and 100th is an old-style Greek diner- a huge menu, enormous portions and very friendly waitstaff. It's a neighborhood favorite.

Sorry but Metro Diner is a totally modern style "Greek" diner.

guts, I don't really get what your saying, where I grew up in Jersey (home of the diner) all the diners were owned by greeks....

btw, there are lots around the city....my favorite is Astro on 55th & 6th....they serve the defining old school diner burger...great for a hangover!! or for something a little out of your box, go to Veselka...
