Cuvee
I have liked Cuvee in the past but have noted that there may have been a change in chefs. I have also read a few poor reviews online of late. Can anyone who has been there recently adivse me further? I am looking for an upscale atmosphere for 9 people who are just meeting for the first time. Price is not an object but we would probably do best with a varied menu. Love August but think it may be a bit too much. Will Stella accommodate large groups? Thanks in advance....!

Try Le Meritage. The food is exceptional and they surely can accommodate a party of your size. Their small plate options could make things more interesting if your party hits it off.

Like yourself, we had an exceptionally wonderful meal at Le Meritage last December, so much so that I booked it for myself and 7 visitors for New Year's Eve. To my disbelief and disappointment, the meal was a semi-disaster on several service and food levels. More disappointing, I took time out to write a thoughtful letter to the chef explaining this challenging evening, saying I expected nothing in return but I just thought he should know. I never even got the courtesy of a reply, even after confirming that he received it. I consider this rude enough for us not to return. I'll miss it.

went to Cuvee a few weeks ago, had the $25 3-course lunch and .25 cent martinis. excellent. the french onion soup was very good, as were the generous scallops on polenta.

Cuvee has a Groupon offer today. Is the restaurant worth it?

I've bought two groupons for New Orleans so far...Oceana (I'll use it for breakfast before my plantation tour) and The Bistro at Maison de Ville which I'll use for dinner. I wish I had more days to try this Cuvee one but no time left or shuffling to do at all! Here's the info for Cuvee: $30 for $60 Worth of Upscale, Contemporary Creole Fare and Drinks at Cuvée http://www.groupon.com/new-orleans/de...

This is not a rating - I haven't been there yet, but today only go to groupon.com in New Orleans and get a half price certificate.

yes, there was a change in chefs. the old chef transitioned with the new chef. it was very good on our last recent visit. scallops, French onion soup both excellent, and the cornbread w/ molasses the best I've had.

kibbles, Have you been for dinner lately? I was wondering if the menu has remained the same with the chef changes. They used to have a good tasting menu as well, but it's been awhile since I've been. I've had a $100 gc for about 1 1/2 yrs that I should probably use.

my visits have been lunch-only. but i plan to use this groupon for dinner sometime soonish.
yes the last time we did dinner it was the tasting menu, which we really enjoyed, as did our friends. the water was a new york native and he was really great as well (especially when he pointed out that he was "forgetting" the wine pairing bottle on the table but would return in several minutes...he knew how to work it!)

Does anyone have any info on the new chef? I haven't been since Bob left and can't decide whether to return soon, not having heard super-compelling reasons to, IMO.
