Where should I go to celebrate tonight?

I finished my PhD and were going out to celebrate tonight. I would go to Okan, but I went last week. I also went to Cucina Urbana fairly recently, so I probably won't go there. I'm thinking about Farmhouse Cafe or Alchemy maybe. Anyone have any good ideas?

If I had such a fantastic accomlishment, I'd treat myself to 1500 Ocean. But if you're looking to stay Uptown (or concerned about paying student loans) I'd go to Vagabond or Urban Solace. If you go to US, afterwards, you can do a pub crawl along 30th if you're so inclined.

Kaito Sushi, with your own bottles of RR Supplication from Whole Foods.

Congratulations! I really enjoyed my recent dinners at Farmhouse Cafe-- food and service both very good at a moderate price point.

Hmm. . .you might want to go with the badass route and eat at either the Starlite Lounge,or the Riviera Supper Club (or the Turf Supper Club). Because nothing says badass like a good steak and a cocktail. After 2-3 martinis (or Manhattans), insist that everyone call you "Doctor."

Now, if you're going for a less badass route, you might want to look into Avenue 5 (gotta represent for my old schoolmate Colin, who can cook his ass off, by the way). Or the Wine Vault & Bistro - I went there last weekend, and am kicking myself for not going before (braised pork belly, where have you been all my life?).

I'm late to this, but how about Sakura?

I defended just a few months ago actually - after the work party and such, I was so tired at the end of the day we just ate at home :P It was a good meal though, featuring some crispy duck and a nice bottle of Gigondas. The next night though, we celebrated for real at Alinea. If I were here, I'd probably go more down-to-earth... maybe a meal at Whisknladle and then sit at La Jolla Cove and just enjoy the sea :)

Congrats on your PhD! Now for the postdoc... :P
