Last Thursday evening, we had dinner at Foothills Milling Company. It was recommended to us by an acquaintance in Knoxville as being the best place to eat in Knoxville (even though it is not actually in Knoxville). Our experience was excellent. We arrived a little before 7pm without reservations (which I would not recommend) and were seated immediately.
We were brought small sample bites of their grouper - complements of the chef. We then ordered, and shared, a romaine lettuce wedge. It was both an interesting salad and very tasty. Next came a palate cleanser of raspberry sorbet. My wife had the fried grouper entree (which she described as very rich), while I ordered the Octoberfest Special - a plate of pork chop, sausage, kraut, and potatoes. It was chosen because it is different from what I usually have available to choose from, rather than because I love the items on the plate. It was one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. The pork was more like ham - juicy, excellent. The sausage, and the accompanying mustard sauce, was very enjoyable. The kraut and potatoes both exceeded my expectations. For dessert, we shared an individual peach cobbler. It was quite good, but I must say my wife enjoyed it more than I.
