Interesting version of an Oki Dog.

  • 4

Last night I was at the Pershing Square Wednesday night summer concert show. Last year there were several food vendors, but this year there was only one. It was a food truck called the Place.
I looked at the menu selections and figured a burrito is a safe bet and they are usually big and filling. I asked the young lady taking the orders what ingredients were in the Place burrito. The band playing was loud so I only caught part of the description, but it sounded vaguely like the Oki Dog; chili, franks, pastrami wrapped in a tortilla. Maybe it was my hunger, but it seemed like a vastly improved Oki Dog. The frank was salty as most are. It's rare I even eat an Oki Dog andI haven't eaten an Oki Dog in probably a year, but this was better to my taste buds. It was also not as huge as the original, but I'd be interested if anyone else has tried it. Apparently they have 2 trucks and so I didn't ask which truck it was. Also they didn't seem to twitter they were in Pershing Square last night.

  1. Fab in Northridge has a version of an Oki Dog called the Fairfax Burrito Dog. I've never tried it, but it has all the ingredients you've described.

Fab is in Reseda. See the Google map at http://www.fabhotdogs.com/Location.html , which, incidentally, shows the old location label as well as a marker for the new location. Google will eventually change its Reseda map, but in the meantime Fab might want to do a little Photoshopping to eliminate any possible confusion.

    2. I had a great breakfast burrito from this truck when they were serving food for a historical tour in Pasadena I was on. I've noticed they are often in front of the Paseo complex on Colorado too.

      1. If you don't mind waiting in line for 6 hours, I remember Pink's doing a decent version called the pastrami burrito dog.
