Looking for Sushi??

Traveling from NY to Lake Victoria, BC. Will be stopping in Seattle for a transfer and would like to have good Sushi somewhere close to the airport if possible. Please recommend, I Heard about the Crab Pot (will try that if close) but prefer to have some fantastic Sushi. have about a 4 hour layover.

    Are you coming from NYC?

My favorite place near the airport is Taqueria La Estacion - better Mexican food than anything you'll find in NYC. No sushi in the area of the airport will beat the better places in NYC, either.

NYC has the best sushi in America outside of Hawaii. But... I would find a sushi place that sources local fresh fish like our Salmon.

I'd suggest Tamura Sushi Kappo, Kisaku, or Nishinos. None of them are near the airport however.

If geography is a bigger factor, i'd look into having some good Thai or Pho near the airport.

I disagree that NYC has the best sushi outside of Hawaii. I think that Los Angeles would absolutely trounce it, fresher fish generally and also a much larger Japanese population to support it.

Having lived in both LA/OC and NYC, I would say LA is very close to NYC and wouldnt find a problem pitting the best of LA vs NYC, but NYC gets first call a lot of the time on fish and meat markets where people are willing to overspend on food where LA you get better quality at a more reasonable price (exception being Urasawa in B. Hills lol)

Having been to Urasawa twice, I can honestly say I didn't feel ripped off or that I overpayed it was an absolutely transcendent experience and I would gladly pay to do it again.

There is a place by southcenter that is supposed to be pretty good, so that would be right by the airport. I think it is called Miyabi?
Okay, ha, they add it automatically, so I guess that is the name....

Miyabi is a very solid option. Not the greatest variety of fish, but good quality for the price.

I would also vote no on the Crab Pot - for any reason.

There are not a lot of good sushi places I know of near the airport. There are two that are reasonably close. One - Mashiko - is very good and is in West Seattle. You could take a cab there in your time frame, but it only does dinner. http://sushiwhore.com/home.html

The Cutting Board in Georgetown is also reasonably close to the airport and good, if not great and it is open all day. http://www.cuttingboardseattle.com/

With only four hours I would not risk the light rail to the ID district, but you could consider that as well, but it might be a time crunch.

I don't know the area well, but Crab Pot would not be on my list of places to visit even if i weren't looking for sushi. I'm sure another can advise as to a suitable sushi restaurant. But if not, I'd search this board for other dining options in the Sea-tac area. All I'm saying is that you can do better...and as far as I know (per the map showing up on the right thanks to Chowhound), the Crab Pot isn't near the airport.

The Crab Pot looked much better than it should have on Man vs Food...
