Blue Sage - Mississauga

I stopped by Blue Sage for lunch and it was closed. No sign, no notice on their website.

Does anyone know what is going on?

  1. Very weird. I was in there last week and it was business as usual. I hope it's not bad news!!

What time/day did you go? Today at lunch? They should have definitely been open.

Yeah, it was yesterday at lunch, just before noon. No one inside. Called the number - no answer, no message....

I was just there the other day for the first time and was very happy with the food. I have had many different places all over the States with Southern BBQ and this is one of the best and in our own backyard. The brisket was so tender and juicy as i put my fork into it, it fell right apart and the ribs fall right of the bone. I had the opportunity to try some of his BBQ sauces with my brisket and WOW so unique and so full of flavour, I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves BBQ.

      2. Bump. curious if anyone knows anything else about this?

Bumping this thread also. Any update? I just called to see if they were going to be opened tomorrow and I'm not getting an answer and there's no voicemail. Should I take it off my list of options for dinner?

I was in there last week and mentioned this thread to him, and how the place was closed, and he acted like he had no idea and doesn't remember ever being closed.

And now today, again people are getting no answer and no voicemail.. Very weird. I'm not sure what is going on.

Thanks. I'll keep trying, maybe he stepped out or something. We'll swing by tomorrow night anyways and see if he's open. If they're not for some reason, what would you recommend nearby? We're catching a game at the Hershey centre so anything within a 15 min drive would be great.

I was in there at 2pm on Monday Aug 23. My first visit and I had an excellent pulled pork sandwich and a wonderful conversation with M. He said menu is being streamlined and everything is going well.

I drove down there from Markham earlier as I read some reviews, wish I saw this thread yesterday. Drop by there and there is a sign up saying be back in ten minutes. What a joke! The lights were on giving us some false hope, waited for about 30 minutes and then left. We called in advance before we left but no one answered the phone which should have indicated to us that he wouldn't be there. If you ask me, this place doesn't deserve my business and I can safely say good bbq or not, I will NEVER go back!

Isn't it logical NOT to drive from Markham to Mississauga if no one's home???

                    1. re: Kagemusha

                      I'm assuming @callitasicit didn't read this thread.

I was actually in Toronto at the time, just finished my shift and planning to go to Blue Sage. Just pissed off that the Manager put a sign up saying back in ten minutes and didn't follow through. We went to Sweet Smoke instead and had a very enjoyable dinner.

I feel your pain, I decided not to risk it since I didn't get an answer after calling all day Monday and Tuesday and I had a group with me. I learned my lesson after traveling to Barrie once for bbq and found the place closed for a private event (and this was even after I had called and confirmed they were going to be open that Saturday). Now I'm just super skeptical if I hear anything about "questionable" hours.

I don't know what the hell is going on here.. People are complaining about this on more than just this forum as well..

Sigh. Sorry it didn't work out for you, that is inexcusable I agree..

                          1. re: duckdown

I forwarded this URL to their contact e-mail just now. So hopefully we might get an explaination or details about what's been going on.. I recommended he sign up and reply to this thread like BusterRhino does, guess we'll see what happens.

Hi, it's Misha from Blue Sage Gourmet Eatery. First thanks duckdown for the e-mail on this thread. We have had some issues with our A/C the last two and a half weeks and were forced to close on a couple of occasions including yesterday. We did put a sign in the window as to why we were closed.. Our normal hours are Monday to Wednesday 11:30 to 8:00 and Thursady to Saturday 11:30 to 9:00. Hope this helps clear up any miscommunications and I do apoloigize to anyone that has come and was not able to get any food. As for the "back in 10 minutes" sign going up in the window, it's only used in absolute emergencies and I try to stick to the 10 minutes again sorry for the inconvenience.

                              1. re: BSG

Were you planning to come back in ten minutes on Saturday evening? Lights were on and your sign was in the window. Just frustrated because I waited there for like thirty minutes thinking you would come back. At least, you addressed our comments.

                2. Very Sad. Hopefully things will work out.
