21st Birthday 8PM Tonight - Please help!

My son is 21 today. My dtr and I are in SF to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Dtr and I are veg (not vegan, but no fish). Son eats meat, chicken.
We're meeting him at Van Ness and Sacramento at 7:30. Is there a nice but not too stuffy/too formal Italian resto in this vicinity I can take my family to? I'm really grateful for any help. I know this is last minute!
THANKS!

        I'll second Antica Trattoria.
Also good are Pane e Vino on union west of Van Ness,
and Jackson Fillmore (a little farther) at the eponymous cross section.

My son opted for Pane e Vino, so we cancelled our Antica res and went to P e V. The management was welcoming and gracious. We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal, made even more special by the terrific staff. It was truly a special night and a memorable celebration of a milestone birthday.
Thanks pauliface, escargot3 and tvham. Bless your collective hearts!

A bit of a walk but I really like Capannina on Union Street.

Thanks but not as veg-friendly as I'd like. Very much appreciate your taking the time to help!
