Tamarind Seed is pretty good Thai in walking distance and is in your price range. Personally, I think La Pietra Cucina is a bit far to walk in the heat down Peachtree from the High, and the other places already mentioned are closer and just as good or better (although, admittedly, not Italian).

A pub-ish place is TAP a block away, decent food, not great, good beer selection. Pretty good Thai food across the street from the High at Tamarind Seed.

If you like walking, several blocks further is Noon which is turning out some interesting food and great cocktails. Ecco is a good walk away but usually very good, especially the fried goat cheese with honey. Also still walkable is La Pietra Cucina for some very good progressive Italian.

Hmm... kind of a weird area. Several restaurants, mostly hit or miss places, nothing stellar. Maybe South City Kitchen?
