Help!! I'm looking for good fish and chips in Whitby!

I cannot find a good fish and chip shop in Whitby. I have been to the one at Garden and Rossland...too much batter. The one at Thickson and Dundas...frozen french fries...too much batter.
I don't want somewhere that calls themselves a Fish & Chip shop but makes all kinds of other foods too...that isn't a fish shop. In Toronto I would just go to Duckworths of course....or Andrews or Highlands in Scarborough. I hope someone can help.

Finally! I've found the best Fish and Chips in Whitby! Stanley's Fish and Chips on Dundas St. in south Whitby. Real English style, great portions, lots of fish not all batter and battered lightly. Chips are great and also not greasy! LOve this place. AND they deliver!! small charge for delivery but worth it if you love your fish and chips.

Awesome! Stanley's on Dundas and in Brooklin are part of the same franchise. There is one in Aurora as well. They are absolutely amazing, I'm glad you love them too!

There are two really good ones in Brooklin, Stanley's and Krispey's I prefer Stanley's. Both are on Baldwin(Brock St N) just north of Winchester.

Funny, I am the opposite, I prefer Krispy's. Fresh fish, great batter and fries. Their onion rings are great as well. The only time I went to Stanley's the fish was great, the battter was thin and soggy, the fries were a let down as well.

Stanley's in Brooklin is excellent. The haddock is fresh, and nice and thick. The batter was lite and crisp, not greasy at all. Fries are fresh cut. YUMMO!

If you like Andrews or Highland, then Malt 'n Salt in Pickering is worth checking out. It is a small family run operation and the proprietor is generous with portions and very careful in frying.
I've tried Flying Scotsman in Whitby (busy, friendly service, but pedestrian haddock), and Jasper's on Liverpool (also busy, and overcooked!), but Malt 'n Salt is consistently better.
