Has anyone tried any of the taquerias or small mexican restaurants along Crain Hwy or Ritchie Hwy?

  1. No, but the one beside Muddy Paws in Annapolis (near Quiet Waters) is really good. A few tables, but not many. Good portions and nice flavors.

I like that place, but did you notice there are no prices on the menu?

    2. Yes, La Sirinita has actually been recently renovated and is pretty nice inside now. That's been one of my favorite restaurants in the area for a few years now. I've also been to the Cinco de Mayo taqueria/bakery a few times. I really liked their tortas, and their baked goods have been very good. I still haven't tried the new place on Ritchie Hwy in the old Cafe Amore space, Mi Pueblo, I think...I'd love to hear some input if anyone's tried it.

Also have not tried but curious about La Fondita on B&A Blvd.

I've wanted to try both La Sirenita and CInco de Mayo. I was worried that it might cater exclusively to the local hispanic population and as I don't speak Spanish, I was afraid I might make a fool of myself! ;-) Thanks for the feedback on them. I think I'll try them now!

While they do cater to the Hispanic population, they're very friendly. I'd say that La Sirenita is probably more used to English speakers than Cinco de Mayo, where I've always been the only one. But I've never had much trouble at either one.

I have been to Mi Pueblo and enjoyed it. I don't know that it's exceptionally authentic... but it's a good place for American Mexican, unlike Plaza Garibaldi further down on Ritchie. The inside of Mi Pueblo is very pleasant for a strip mall and the staff were nice, attentive, but not obnoxious.

I like Mi Pueblo a lot. Kind of cheesy in terms of decor, but the food is solid every time and very reasonable. There are all the combo plate Tex/Mex standards with at least a few more authentic selections.

Tamales were a big disappointment to me as they use a hefty whack of cinammon in them for some reason. I'm ok with cinammon in some savory preparations, but it doesn't work for me here.

Here a link to the first spot referenced on this thread in Hillsmere in Annapolis. Definitely a hole in the wall, with exceptional tacos.

I actually liked Mi Pueblo a lot when I finally got there. It's much better for Tex Mex than Plaza Girabaldi down the road. I really like the Al Pastor tacos despite them being nothing like the typical Al Pastor tacos that I'm used to (these were on flour tortillas, and were actually beef in a spicy sauce). Overall, very good for what it is.

I also like Mi Pueblito. If you ask them they will prepare tacos de linqua for you. I rder it often and enjoy it every time.

                  Ooops. I meant Mi Pueblo.

Do you mean Lengua? Really? I've always wondered if they had a "secret" menu.

Yes. That is exactly what I mean. As you can tell my keyboard skills are terrible.

I ate at Plaza Garibaldi once. Once.

I also ate at Plaza Garibaldi once: mushy, salty, bland. Never again.

            2. I went to an awesome taco truck in that area a couple years ago. Real-deal, $1.25 per taco, Mexican taco truck with sauces made daily. Is it still there? Did I imagine it?
