Scarpetta - solo dining?

deeg Jul 25, 2010 08:06 PM

Would Scarpetta be ok for a solo diner? I see they have a bar, am I (female, late 20's) likely to feel comfortable eating there on my own on a Monday night, around 7pm, or will it be very crowded? I've eaten at the restaurant before, and have been itching to go back to try the spaghetti w/tomato & basil - I'm on my own tomorrow night and figure it could be a good time to try it. What do you think?

I've eaten at the bar solo a few times, but usually around 6pm. I don't think it'll get particularly crowded though because they have so much seating between the front part of the bar, the bar itself, and the two tables off to the side of the bar. Of course if you do sit at the bar definitely help yourself to those lovely herbed potato chips. Have a good time!

I was there about a month ago and they also had outside seating, in addition to the tables in the front of the restaurant, tables alongside the bar (I think there are actually something like 4-6 two tops past the hostess station and I've seen solo diners dining there as well) as well as solo diners at the bar itself.

Given that it's summer, a Monday, and you're going early, you should be fine. And a lot of people hanging around the bar are just there until their table is ready.

The herbed potato chips are fantastic, and they'll bring you the bread basket as well, though if you're having the spaghetti with tomato and basil for dinner, that's a lot of carbs.

i think Scarpetta is one of the best solo dining choices around...at 7pm you might have to wait for a bar seat, but maybe not as a solo -- but i'd try to arrive slightly earlier...the yellowtail crudo is also very delicious and a good starter to go w/ that spaghetti...

I've dined at Scarpetta solo in the dining room and it was fabulous.
