Marina del Rey late evening

Picking up wife at LAX at 8:40 PM on a Thursday night. Spending the night in Marina del Rey and she will be hungry after that long flight. Allowing for flight times and bags, etc, I'm thinking we'll be in the Marina del Rey area about 9:30 - 9:45. Any suggestions for a sit down place with good food and good wine? Just about any cuisine will do.

Go to Antica Pizzeria, very good Italian style pizzeria, with all the requirements you mentioned . . .

Edit: Just to elaborate, I was feeling lazy a bit earlier--"Antica Pizzeria serves only authentic Neapolitan pizza prepared according to the protocols of the Verace Pizza Napoletana Association." They have that and their hours are: Sunday to Thursday 11:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday 11:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m. It's a sit down place, good food. They have wine, but I don't drink wine so I can't vouch for it.

I should have looked up Cafe del Rey's hours before posting, sorry I didn't, only open until 9:30 on Thursdays. Didn't mean to mislead you.

        still,
        regarding cafe del rey:
they could play it by ear.
it's never so crowded that you can't walk in and get a table at nine.
because they have an attended parking lot right in front of the restaurant, you could go directly from the airport to the restaurant and your bags would be safe in your car.
        the food is terrific.
if you're running just a little late, i'd bet that they would be fine with you ordering off the bar menu(get the truffle pizza for sure).
        the wine-by-the-glass list is excellent
        the wine list is excellent
if is very civilized--spacious tables, comforable seating, gracious service, not too noisy.
(unlike gjelina, which has terrific food but very cramped seating and is very loud.)

Cafe del Rey. Haven't been for some time, but was NEVER disappointed. A really pretty space at night. Have fun wherever you go!

Waterloo & City (gastropub) serves late and has its own (unattended but well-lit) lot, though Gjelina is open a bit later. Hamakaze (izakaya/sushi) also nearby serves late as well.

I also thought of Hamakaze, which I enjoyed on my one visit. Open till 11 nightly. It is another place I probably wouldn't leave luggage in the car, however (street parking only, IIRC).

Last time I flew into LAX hungry, we just went straight to Ayara Thai, though it was earlier in the evening (I did leave bags in the car, including bags with some rather expensive dive gear...but it was still light out...). Ayara Thai is open till 10 pm, so it is a possibility if the bags come quickly. (I've had excellent luck in the that regard at LAX lately. Indeed, got our bags AND cleared customs in less than 30 minutes last time. Guess that means my luck is going to change...)

            Also consider Beachwood.

Gjelina is close and open until midnight.

you might consider unloading your bags at the hotel before heading to gjelina.
most of the parking around there is unattended.

Also be sure to make a reservation, as Gjelina fills up quickly and no one likes to have to wait after a flight.
