Benriner Spiral Slicer Question

  • 2

Having been happy for years with my Benriner Mandolin, I had always wanted to get one of their spiral slicers. But the $50 price tag put me off... it would really be just a nice toy to pull out once in awhile, unlike the Mandolin which gets multiple uses each week.

But... today I was at an estate sale and I found the little beauty UNUSED for $2. So i had to buy it.

It came with no box and only has one blade, the finest... which, after having done some research really only works well on hard veggies like potatoes.

So here are my questions for anyone that has this item.

Is there a place to buy replacement blades cheap? I found some on eBay for $12 each, but I'm looking for even better.

Also, does anyone have the instruction guide that they might want to scan and send me? Or a place online to find it? I've Googled but no luck so far.

And finally... any tips, tricks, good ideas for things I can do with it.

Thanks in advance.

  1. No tip, but congratulation for such a good buy. $2 is ridiculous cheap.

Oh I know! Could not pass it up.

Also snagged an unused in the box Japanese pickle press... to make tsukemono... List: $30, I got it for $3. And an unused heavy 12" tart pan with removable bottom, $1.

I am riding high on my buys ; ) Haven't found deals like this in a long time.
