Need a rec for dinner in Center City with another couple next Friday

Last time we went out with these friends, we went to Amis and all LOVED it. Now the couple is expecting somewhere great again, and I am not sure where to go. The other couple is not a big fan of Jose Garces, I don't feel like a Stephen Starr place, and I don't want to do something as much of a scene as R2L.

Open table has lots of openings at reasonable times (except Osteria, which would have been a good choice). I guess that's late July in Philly for you.

Open for suggestions.

at the risk of sounding like a broken record, i really thought fish was something special, if seafood is your group's thing.

    and yeah, zahav. :)

I was seeing the header and thinking Amis before I read the posting (chuckle).

I will go out on a limb and say Zahav. But only if you get the Mesibah so you can enjoy the lamb shoulder. It costs like $6 more than the other price fixe option per person but the lamb is absolutely fabulous and it's great fun digging in with friends.

      Zahav. Or Kanella. Or Fork?

All good choices. I'll throw Koo Zee Doo into the mix, especially if you are into sharing.

I second that recommendation. We were there for my birthday and I loved their food!
