Anyone else remember "Chippos" potato chips in a box?
In the early 1970s, potato "chips", I suppose more appropriate called "crisps", started to be made from potato granules or bits. I dearly remember Chippos, which came in a box lined with foil. They were exceptionally delicious! Every time I taste Pringles, I wish they were Chippos. Ah, nostalgia.

I don't remember these at all. I wonder if they were only regional since all the other posters on this thread are from the NE?
I can't remember the name but when Pringles first came out there was another brand that I thought was better but was only on shelves very briefly. It came in a round tin shaped like a smallish bundt cake pan and the chips were arranged in a ring.

Ooooh, "new fashioned potato granules!" Damn, they were good. ;) I haven't seen that box in years, thank you.

Is that what they were called?! I DO remember them and I loved 'em, too, if we're remembering the same thing. I grew up in CT and love chips like that. My current faves are Munchos, which were around in the 70s, too.

It's been SO long since I had Chippos, but I'm definitely a bigger fan of Munchos than Pringles. Munchos aren't stacked and uniform...they're light little puffy crisps of delicious potato bits. The description here's got it all over mine with the bonding--HA HA!

Get a "BIG GRAB" of 'em and a Coke and report back. :) It's my favorite snack on the run.P.S. Were we separated at birth or what? No one has EVER remembered what I meant by the potato chips in the box!
EDIT: Lookie here! We're not alone:

Munchos, oh yes, Chippos, I don't recall. Wish there was a box photo at the inthe70's.com link, perhaps that would jog my memory. Btw, the amazon Munchos price is kinda outrageous, don't you think?
I had a room mate back in the 70's who ate a can of Pringles every day until she discovered Munchos, then she ate Pringles and Munchos every day (she didn't eat much else).
