Need great drinks place in West Village
We're taking out my mother-in-law (who is pretty cool) for drinks and dinner tonight and I need a West Village drinks place. Good atmosphere, not screaming loud. An thoughts?

bobo is my favorite! I keep telling friend to go and they all love it. bobo has a great cocktail list - I always get the London Calling and the bobo. The atmosphere is awesome, it's in a townhouse on west 10th. Good luck with that mama in law!

If that's not your thin, Cafe Cluny on West 4th is a safe choice.-----

I would agree with both Employees Only and Highlands. I would say that I also like the drinks at Chow Bar, and that is very close to Mary's Fish Camp. I believe that they open at 5pm.

I agree with the Bobo suggestion. Another good option in the neighborhood which should fit the bill is the Upholstery Store on Washington, which has a good selection of wines and finger foods.

If it's before about 7, most bars should be pretty quiet, still. Look into The Dove (opens at 4 IIRC), Highlands (opens at 6), Little Branch (opens at 7) and Employee's Only. The Highlands and Employee's Only have pretty good food, in addition to drinks.
Since it's raining, all of these places might be more quiet than usual.
