Ambience, portion size, tastiness of food. Please enlighten us.

I've been three times. About four years ago, shortly after it opened, I sat upstairs, which I think has a better ambiance than the downstairs area, and remember being impressed by the sushi. In my two subsequent trips (about three years ago and last year), I've been downstairs; I've found that the food looks pretty, but doesn't really taste like much. The service has been fine on all three occasions, and I've found that the portions have been sufficient, although I am not a big eater.

I went to Le Carne about 2 years ago during lunchtime and it was pretty stuffy and noisy and very overpriced in my opinion. I have not benn again and wouldn't go there. I have not been to Prime Grill but I know that that's the go to for business lunches for kosher NY professionals.

I agree to your concerns regarding the noise level of Prime Grill, but speaking as someone that has taken business associates out for dinner, drinks, etc., Prime Grill has always impressed.

I haven't been in 3-4 years but I found it paled next to Prime Grill. The food and service weren't as good and it wasn't as polished overall. For the same $ (roughly), I'd choose Prime Grill every time.

Thnx. The issue is that Prime Grill is too noisy and Solo isn't worth the $. La Carne seems to evoke either a resounding yes with accolades for their steaks or a no due mainly to the service. We want a quiet place with good food and portions that are filling. We don't like Abigaels or Mike's and we don't feel like Sephardic food so we were hoping that La Carne would be it. I hope more people respond. so we can make an educated decision.

If you think Prime Grill is too noisy, then I won't recommend Le Marais....but have you tried Prime KO?

We were told it was hip and also a bit noisy. This is a business/couples dinner. We want quiet and even a bit stuffy and we don't want the other people to feel hungry when they leave. It is a amazing how difficult it is to find this in the city.

I found LCG to be as loud as PG. Mike's and Abigael's are the only quiet nice places in NYC. You could come out to NJ for Mosaica.

I also went several years ago. We were one of the only tables in the place. but service was very slow. Steaks were a nice size, but very overpriced, and did not come with any sides. We ordered a few sides for the table (6 of us) and were assured it would be enough... and it wasn't.. a few asparagus spears.. a small serving of mashed potatoes. Steaks were all over/undercooked and the waiter made no move to correct this, until a friend approached the manager.

Wouldn't rush back there.., but I haven't been in a while.. so it may be better than I remember
