Pullman Washington- Swilly's restaurant- Overwhelmingly mediocre
I ate here the other night and must say was astounded at how mediocre the food/service was.
It wasn't crowded, 3 other tables, so the kitchen being backed up is not an excuse here. I am not asking for the world, but $23 for pasta, it better be at least a little more than mediocre.
I had the pasta with gorgonzola cream sauce with prawns.
The sauce was bland, there were apples in it, and the shrimp/prawns were overcooked.
At least the pre-made pasta was not overcooked. Apples don't fit this flavor profile. Whoever came up with the menu needs to really have a long/hard look at their decisions and either make new (better) ones or leave it up to someone with some culinary sense.
I realize that it's pullman and not the big city, but if I pay a certain amount for a dish ($23 in this case) I expect a certain level of preparation and thoughtfulness put into the dish. The pasta was way over-sauced and the prawns were over-cooked.
For a mediocre concept, it was very poorly executed.
One thing that I have noticed in this area is that people either don't seem to care about the food they eat, or the owners of restaurants/cooks aren't trained properly, or care at all. The food here is so overwhelmingly bad, or mediocre and people accept it. Without any sort of competition from decent restaurants, and people not saying anything about the quality of the food they are served, the restaurants here will continue to fester.
