Indian in Columbus Ohio

  • 5

I'm fairly new to Columbus (Ohio) and haven't met many 'hounds here yet. I'm really wanting Indian food and am not sure what a good restaurant here is. Would prefer Columbus proper or the west/NW suburbs but am willing to travel for a great place.

I will be taking my husband, who is not super adventurous, so a general place where he can get something like a basic tandoori chicken would be ideal, but I can probably convince him to expand his horizons :)

  1. Taj Palace on Fishinger just off of 270 on the west side is really good. There are actually many Indian (including south Indian and vegetarian) restaurants in Columbus. This one is just my favorite.

    1. I've been hearing raves about the new Aab India in Grandview. The family who runs it owns several top-notch (as in great food, not as in highly priced) Indian restaurants in Cincinnati such as Ambar and Akash.

That's good to know. I alternate between Cincinnati, Northern KY and Columbus. I can attest to the fact that the owner of Ambar has several great restaurants in Cincinnati, as well as one in Fort Wright, KY.

        1. Is the Columbus Udipi run by the same folks as the one in Cincinnati, possibly? I used to go there all the time -- one of my fave restaurants in Cincinnati.

I think it possibly is, my girlfriend is from Clecveland and she said that there's one there as well. I'm not sure they're the same...there are a lot of "Taj's" around ya know?
