BBQ Dinner Party Help
Heed some help for another side dish for a bbq dinner party.
We are having 3 couples over for dinner on Friday night (8 people total). Food theme is sort of a mix between Mexico\Argentina.
Here is the menu I have so far:
Grilled\smoked tri-tip
Chimichurri sauce
Corn ( fresh corn, creme fraiche, lime, cilantro, jalapenos, cotija cheese) on the grill in a cast iron skillet
Caesar salad (tortilla strips, cilantro, cumin, pepitas)
What is another veggie I could grill that would go well with this menu? We love grilling asparagus but it does not seem to match. Also love wilted spinach or swiss chard but it does not seem to go either. Any ideas...?
Also... would some good garlic bread match well or not? Seems like too much starch to me but who does not love good garlic bread...?
Thanks for the help!

Sounds good. What about some grilled peppers, onions, zucchini, tomatoes, squash with some feta sprinkled on it. I know you said grilled, but french fries are popular as an Argentinian side dish. Maybe sprinkled with some salt, cumin and paprika?

Thanks for the reply... but I prefer not to do another starch. I was going to make baked sweet potato fries with smoked paprika and lime zest but I really want to make some fresh corn. I think grilled beef and corn go so well together.
The grilled mixed veggie idea is something we always do and I don't want to make the plate too sloppy so am leaning toward one grilled veggie. Maybe just some simple grilled zucchini (olive oil and lemon juice) will be ok.

I think your menu looks lovely as is but if you want to grill something extra how about Grilled Chayote Squash.
I think instead of garlic bread maybe some soft tortillias.›4 Replies
